Claude Skills for Social Media Managers: 9 Free Skills and How to Use Them

If you scanned the QR code from my LinkedIn post, you’re in the right place. This page has the download link for all nine social media Claude Skills, plus everything you need to install them and put them to work.

If you arrived here some other way, welcome 👋 Here’s the short version: Claude Skills are reusable instruction sets that teach Claude how to do a specific job properly, every time. I’ve built nine of them for social media managers, and they’re free. They write captions in your brand voice, plan your content calendar, script your Reels, analyse your results and more.

This guide covers what Claude Skills are, what each of the nine does, how to install them in about a minute, and how to get the best out of them.

The download contains nine .skill files and a README. Install all nine or just the ones you need. No catch, though if you find them useful, my newsletter is where I share things like this first. More on that at the end.

What are Claude Skills?

A Claude Skill is a small file containing expert instructions that Claude loads automatically when a task matches. Think of it as the difference between briefing a freelancer from scratch every time and working with someone who already knows your process.

Without a skill, you get a generic answer shaped by however you happened to phrase the prompt. With a skill, Claude follows a tested process: it knows what questions to ask, what good output looks like, what mistakes to avoid and how to format the result.

The practical benefit for marketers is consistency. A well-built skill encodes the prompting work once, so you never have to remember the magic words again. You just ask for a caption, and the caption-writer skill quietly handles hooks, platform formatting, hashtags and your banned-words list in the background.

Skills work in Claude on the web, the desktop app and Claude Code. You need a paid Claude plan, and skills need to be enabled in Settings, under Capabilities.

The 9 social media Claude Skills in this pack

Each skill does one job well. Together they cover most of a social media manager’s week.

Caption Writer writes ready-to-publish captions for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and TikTok in your saved brand voice, with platform-correct formatting, hooks and hashtags handled.

Content Repurposer turns one piece of content into five platform-native posts. Give it a blog post, podcast episode or video, and each derivative stands alone rather than being the same text truncated five times.

Trend Analyst takes a trending topic or news story and finds your most relevant, lowest-risk angle. It scores brand fit, flags reputational risk and gives you angles with a recommended format and posting deadline.

Social SEO Researcher finds the hashtags, keywords and search terms that get your content found on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, and writes search-friendly captions, titles and alt text.

Monthly Content Planner generates a full month of post ideas mapped to your content pillars, platforms and relevant awareness days. Every slot gets a date, format, idea and a written hook.

Hook Generator writes five to ten opening lines for any video, carousel or post, labels the structure behind each one and ranks the top three with reasons.

Performance Analyst turns a CSV analytics export from Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok or your scheduling tool into a written report with correct engagement rates, honest patterns and recommendations. It never invents numbers that aren’t in the data.

Story & Reel Scriptwriter scripts short-form video end to end: timed, shot by shot, with spoken lines, on-screen text, b-roll suggestions and a caption.

Campaign Strategist builds a complete social strategy from a goal, audience and timeline, including channel mix, content pillars, cadence, phasing and KPIs.

How to install Claude Skills

Installation takes about a minute. You’ll need a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).

Claude on the web or desktop app

  1. Download and unzip the skills pack using the link above
  2. In Claude, go to Customize, then Skills
  3. In the Skills section, click ‘+
  4. Choose a .skill file from the download
  5. Repeat for each skill you want to install

You don’t need to install all nine. Start with the two or three closest to your daily work, often Caption Writer, Hook Generator and Monthly Content Planner, and add the rest when you need them.

Claude Code

If you use Claude Code, each .skill file is a zip in disguise. Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ and it’s available immediately.

Teach it your brand once, and only once

This is the part that makes these marketing Claude Skills genuinely useful rather than another set of generic prompts.

The first time you use any skill in the pack, it asks six quick questions: your brand and what it does, your audience, your tone in three words, your platforms, your standard calls to action, and your banned words and emoji rules.

Claude then saves your answers as a Brand Profile, either to its memory or as a brand-profile.md file in your project. Every skill in the set reads that same profile. Answer once and all nine skills write in your voice from then on. No re-briefing, no pasting your tone guidelines into every chat.

If you manage multiple clients, set up a separate Claude Project per client and let each one hold its own brand profile.

How to use the skills day to day

You don’t need to remember skill names or special commands. Just ask naturally and Claude matches your request to the right skill:

  • “Write a caption for this photo of our new store opening”
  • “Repurpose this blog post for my channels”
  • “Plan my October content”
  • “Everyone’s posting about [trend], should we?”
  • “Here’s my Instagram export, how did September go?”
  • “Script a 30-second Reel about our returns policy”

You can also name a skill directly: “use the hook-generator on this video idea”. That’s handy when a request could plausibly match more than one skill.

A few tips from testing these with real workloads. Give the skills real inputs: an actual photo description, a full blog post, a genuine CSV export. The more concrete the input, the better the output. Treat the first draft as a strong starting point and push back in plain English: “shorter”, “less salesy”, “more like the second option”. And review the brand profile after a couple of weeks; tightening your three tone words makes a noticeable difference across all nine skills.

Frequently asked questions

Do Claude Skills cost anything? The skills themselves are free. You need a paid Claude plan to run them, as skills aren’t available on the free tier.

Can I edit the skills? Yes. A .skill file is a zip containing a markdown file. Unzip it, edit the instructions, re-zip and re-upload. Adjusting them for your niche works well.

Do they work for agencies with multiple clients? Yes, use one Claude Project per client so each keeps its own brand profile.

Will they work with ChatGPT or Gemini? No, skills are a Claude feature. The thinking inside them is transferable, but the automatic triggering and saved brand profile are what make them worth using, and that’s Claude-specific.

Is my data safe? Skills are just instructions; they don’t send your data anywhere. Your brand profile lives in your Claude account or project.
